Fewston Reservoir is merely a 20 minute drive away from our house. There are a series of lakes just northwest of here, that appear to be connected by small dams and man made streams. The hike around Fewston was the perfect distance for a short hike - 3.5 miles. There were lots of families walking together, and a few joggers here and there. While sitting and enjoying the sunshine we could hear dogs barking, trees and grasses blowing, ducks, geese, sheep, children, and fly fishermen.
The sun was shining, and we couldn't have asked for better weather. We've posted some photos for your viewing pleasure.
Here are some photos from a different day, including Stainburn Forest and another part of Fewston Reservoir. We hiked through swampy terrain at Stainburn Forest. It was something quite surreal and a bit erie... as if we were being watched by angry gnomes.
