Clotted Cream:
A bag of small square clotted cream fudge candies were included in our welcome bag, upon arriving to England. Upon first hearing "clotted cream fudge" I'm sure the words "clotted arteries" comes to mind. And, certainly, that is a possibility if you don't mind how many you eat. It is a good thing the candies come individually wrapped - because it does slow you down just a bit. They are fantastic... and you must simply try it if you come for a visit. Clotted cream is not just in candies... it can also be served as a heavy cream for biscuits.
Cinder Toffee:
Cinder toffee is sold in many candy shops in display cases. However, the real deal is the cinder toffee ice cream. Whenever we see an ice cream truck now we just pray they serve it. For Sarah, no other ice cream now compares. However, it is a bit of a trick to find, and not all companies make it the same way. The best is the Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream cinder toffee flavor. It is scrumptious! Thankfully, Skinny Cow makes a toffee ice cream bar in the UK that is a pretty good substitute, at least on the waistline.
Bettys Brown Bread Ice Cream Sundae:
Served only in Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms, Bettys website describes this treat as "Organic brown bread ice cream, with almond macaroon, chopped pecan nuts and Bettys Toffee Sauce, topped with lightly whipped fresh cream." If the brown bread ice cream sounds strange to you... get over it. If you can imagine what a crushed cookie might taste like in ice cream you are getting warm. The toffee sauce is not just sauce - it is full of yummy toffee. But get your own, because sharing is not an option.
