Matt and I took a day trip to York by train, and it was amazing. If you can picture narrow cobble streets, loads of shops, and lots of nooks and crannies, then you can imagine York. We could hardly stop to enter any of the sites, because another one was beckoning just ahead. York has one of the largest Minsters in all of England. It has churches in every direction, and ruins lying where they fell. The city of York is still enclosed by a stone wall, and we took a stroll just above where the city's gates once stood.
In the center of town a touring band had set up, and were playing - Ed Hope and Friends. They were great. They were playing at a local venue, but the last train out for the night was before they started.
Matt and I had a delicious dinner at Victor Js Art bar. We couldn't find a website for it, but it is listed in the York pubs directory. Matt had a lamb and mint burger with a dill dip. It was truly delicious. As we rode out of town back to Harrogate we shared the train with loads of drunk men and women, dressed to the hilt. They'd been attending the horse races, and the men were singing at the top of their lungs.
